Fun’ta Night 2016 came off on the 19th of November, 2016 at Ashesi University. Participants
included A New Dawn Girls from Berekuso and Osbert Senior High School. Singing, acting,
dance and arts were among other talents displayed on the day. The theme for
the night was “Bring on your Superpowers”. The Superpowers represented the extraordinary
talents of girls which made them different and unique.
The girls played out a drama titled “Our Hero” which portrayed the mission of Bowney and the
values our girls are empowered to exude. In the play, Serwaa, the protagonist in the midst of her
mother dying gathered courage at a young age, learned hard in school to eventually become a
role model girls in her community.
Another act on the day was Benedicta Ansah. She recited a poem she had written on the importance of girl child education. What makes Fun’ta Night really inspiring is the originality of the performances where girls write their own educative poems and come up with their own craft.
Our MC’s for the night were Angela and Jennifer, both Junior High School students of Berekuso
L/A school. “Today, I feel more comfortable”, said Angela who was the MC for the previous
Fun’ta Night event. Doing it for the second time she felt more powerful and confident
A few minutes before the program came to a close, an art made by one students of Ashesi
University was auctioned. Total money raised from ticket sales and auctioning amounted to
1,060 Ghana cedis. Fun’ta Night was attended by parents and students of Ashesi University
