The first time we met her , it was her leadership prowess and hard work that caught our attention.
She was the Girls Prefect of Berekuso Basic School and her teachers were very fond of her. It did
not end in school, Theresa exhibited her gift at church where she offered assistance to church
leaders and at home supporting her father and mother with their work . Her attitude towards
work and school earned her a seat as the President of her cohort at Bowney Initiative in 2015
where she made sure girls were always organized for class.
Theresa lives in Berekuso with her parents. She is the first child among four siblings. Her father
is a farmer and her mother a petty trader. Thanks to Bowney, we are able to support her with
school essentials, study materials, extra tuition and mentorship. Theresa is presently in her final
year at Krobo Girls, a first class Senior High School studying Home Science.
“My dreams have come true and I have more hope now” Theresa said as she took to her
facebook wall to encourage all girls to join Bowey Initiative. She hopes to become a Nurse so
she can help the sick and be able to support her family. A big thank you to Reverend Steve
Buchele, a former Lecturer at Ashesi for paying Theresa’s four year tuition fee.
